Western States Grant

Swede-McMillan Project Area

(areas south of Libby and east of Hwy 2)

  • The Western States Grant is available to help private landowners treat fuels to reduce fire risk on their property and improve overall forest health.

  • Cost-share grants are a partnership between a landowner and the County. Cost-share grants can help by providing technical and financial assistance, covering up to 75 percent of allowable costs of fuel reduction. The landowner is responsible for the remaining costs.

CWDG Grant

COMMUNITY WILDFIRE DEFENSE GRANT (County-wide)

  • The CWDG Grant is a county-wide program that serves the community as an option for fuels mitigation to reduce fire risk and promote forest health.

  • Landowners must reside within the priority areas as listed by the Lincoln County CWPP to qualify for the grant.

  • Project will begin Fall 2023.

Joint Chiefs Grant

  • Libby Surround is a federal program with potential cost-share funding for fuels reduction work on private property around the Libby area.

  • This grant is a partnership with the Forest Service, DNRC, and Lincoln County in order to leverage several funding sources and work across different types of ownership.

  • October 1st of 2023 is the last opportunity to apply.
